Hurray! At Tuesday’s Board of Ed meeting, Principal Smetana and Dr Skinkis asked the Board for funds to reinstate the Fall Play and they voted unanimously to approve it! Now for the formal 2015 budget vote next month and then RB will quickly post positions for a director and assistant director. Everyone wants a show with a large cast and crew and to get a Theater Tech Club going, too. Things are moving in the right direction but it will take time to build a program. The school can now accept as many volunteers as want to get involved, and we’ll need them!
The first PTO meeting of the year is Monday, September 8th at 7pm in room 201 at RBHS and there will be a brief theatre presentation to bring parents up to date. Dr. Skinkis will also attend this meeting so its a good one to attend if you want to ask questions.
If you agree that Fine Arts education is important, let our administration and our BOE know your feelings. They also respond to the passion of students, so encourage kids to stand up and ask for what they want. They listen!
PTO is offering Bulldog decals this year with RBHS Theater on them for $5 each if you want to display your support and interest in theatre at our high school. There are also decals for the other sports and clubs, all available to order now (order form on the RBHS website under Parent/PTO) and pick up at Open House next week on the 27th. Go Bulldogs!
